Police in Brisbane say they’re probing the discovery of human remains and a man’s body in the inner suburb of Teneriffe.

A man’s body was found on a Brisbane street after human remains were located inside a nearby apartment, in what police believe is a murder-suicide.

On Saturday night officers went to an apartment complex at Commercial Road in the inner suburb of Teneriffe where they found human remains inside a unit.

A search of surrounding streets led to the discovery of a man’s body on nearby Dath Street.

Detective Senior Sergeant Armitt told reporters on Sunday police were investigating a murder-suicide.

“About 9pm on Saturday police attended to units at 113 Commercial Road to conduct a welfare check because management were concerned about the welfare of the occupants,” he said.

“Upon attendance, we’ve had cause to commence an investigation in relation to a murder-suicide.”

He said the man’s death is not considered suspicious.

Snr Sgt Armitt wouldn’t confirm reports the man’s body was found in a wheelie bin or whether a weapon had been recovered.

He said it was too early to say how long the pair had been dead.

It’s believed remains found in the unit were that of a woman.

Officers, including specialist police, will remain at the scene throughout the day.
