Firefighters have accounted for all of the occupants from a unit that caught fire north of Brisbane.

A unit has been been gutted by fire in Northlakes, north of Brisbane, but no one has been injured.

Emergency services were called to the College Street property just after 10am on Friday.

The unit was well alight when crews arrived and three pumps were used to battle the flames, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) spokesperson said.

Thick plumes of smoke billowed from the property before the blaze was brought under control by 11.15am.

The QFES says all occupants have been accounted for.
