Police say four men armed with a knife and a machete poured petrol over a 64-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, and threatened to set them alight if they did not hand over money.
One assailant allegedly struck the woman in the face, leaving a cut under her eye.
The group fled the house in Bridge Street in Wooloowin in the city’s north with jewellery and a purse containing cash about 2.30am.
