A 25-year-old itinerant man accused of raping and murdering a student in Brisbane earlier this year has briefly appeared in court.

The man accused of murdering French student Sophie Collombet has appeared briefly in a Brisbane court.

The 21-year-old Griffith University business student’s body was found at Kurilpa Park on the edge of Brisbane’s South Bank precinct in March.

A 25-year-old itinerant man was arrested in April and charged with murder, rape, deprivation of liberty and robbery.

On Monday, he appeared via video link in the Brisbane Magistrates Court where his case was adjourned until August 25.
