A man is due to appear in a Queensland court on Monday, accused of ambushing a woman and slashing her across the chest and leg with a knife.

A woman has been slashed across the chest with a box knife after being ambushed outside a home south of Brisbane.

The 36-year-old was attacked as she walked to her car, parked in the front yard of a Logan Central home, on Sunday night.

Police say a man, who knew the woman, was waiting for her.

He allegedly slashed her across the chest and leg and fled after a teenager came to the woman’s defence.

The woman has been treated in hospital.

Police found the alleged attacker a short time later.

The 46-year-old will face the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday charged with unlawful wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm.
