North Queensland have signed exciting Sydney Roosters outside back Tautau Moga following the season-ending injury to Brent Tate.

North Queensland have completed the signing of exciting Sydney Roosters centre Tautau Moga.

Moga, who was likened to Israel Folau when he was coming through the ranks at the Roosters, suffered two serious knee injuries in as many years and has fallen back in the pecking order at the premiers this season.

The 20-year-old Queenslander played under Cowboys coach Paul Green in the Roosters’ under-20s side and has been granted an immediate release from his contract, which expires at the end of 2014.

He is likely to go straight into the side following the season-ending and potentially career-ending injury to Brent Tate.

“Unfortunately for Tautau, his progress has been hindered by two knee reconstructions over the last two seasons, and his opportunities have consequently been limited by the development of the other outside backs at the club,” Roosters chief operating officer of football, Brian Canavan said.

“We release him with the view that this opportunity is in his best interests, and wish him all the very best.”
