Two women who were filmed allegedly assaulting an elderly man on a Gold Coast bus will be sentenced in September.
BRISBANE, June 18 AAP – Two young women charged with seriously assaulting an elderly, vision-impaired man on a Gold Coast bus will be sentenced in September.
Lawyers for Layni Cameron, 17, and Larna Watmough, 21, told the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday that the pair intended to plead guilty to the high-profile attack on 77-year-old Paul Buttigieg on a bus in Kirra in February.
Their matter was listed for a sentence hearing on September 17.
The two women handed themselves in after footage of the incident, recorded by another passenger, went viral and was passed on to police.
The footage showed two women apparently punching, kicking and spitting at an elderly man while hurling insults.
