Queensland centre Justin Hodges has failed to finish a training session with the State of Origin squad at the Maroons camp on the Gold Coast.

Veteran outside back Justin Hodges has failed to complete a full training session at Queensland’s State of Origin camp on the Gold Coast.

Hodges, who came off early in last Friday’s NRL clash between Brisbane and Gold Coast with an ankle knock, left the session with approximately half an hour to go after a brief discussion with medical staff.

Queensland officials quickly denied the matter was anything serious and the 31-year-old’s withdrawal had been simple precaution.

The Maroons have Melbourne’s Will Chambers at their camp as a reserve in the possibility Hodges cannot overcome the ankle problem by next Wednesday’s Origin opener.

Hodges, along with Melbourne pair Billy Slater and Cameron Smith, undertook only light duties in the squad’s training session on Wednesday morning.

Slater and Smith both completed the afternoon session without incident.
