Three men are safe and well after being plucked from a trawler stuck on a reef off Mackay in north Queensland.

Three men have been rescued from a trawler that ran aground on a reef as Cyclone Ita lashed north Queensland.

The 15-metre boat became stuck on Trogolby Reef, about 80 kilometres off Mackay, about 2am on Monday.

A helicopter was sent at first light to rescue the men.

There were no reported injuries.

The weakening cyclone passed Mackay offshore on Sunday night, bringing 90 kilometre an hour winds, heavy rain and large waves.
