A report will be prepared for the corner after the body of an elderly Cape York man, who had been swept from a flooded causeway, was recovered by divers.
The body of a man swept from the causeway of a fast-flowing river in far north Queensland while in a car has been recovered.
Divers and a helicopter have been searching for the 69-year-old, who police held grave concerns for after he was washed downstream from a flooded crossing at Archer River, north of Coen, on Friday.
The only passenger in his car escaped to the river bank.
The fast-flowing river was about 80cm over the causeway when the Cape York men, who were related, attempted to cross it on Friday.
It has since been closed, Coen Sergeant Matthew Moloney said on Monday.
“Police divers commenced a search (on Tuesday) afternoon and located a body in a vehicle which is being transported back to Weipa,” police said in a statement.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
