The family of Brisbane couple Rod and Mary Burrows have gathered to await any news of the disappearance of their Malaysia Airlines flight.
Relatives of a Brisbane couple feared dead in the Malaysia Airlines tragedy are holding on to hope, but bracing for the worst.
Rod and Mary Burrows were on a trip of a lifetime with long-time friends Cathy and Bob Lawnton, before Cathy lost her eyesight.
The Burrows’ family have gathered to wait and hope for the best.
In a statement released on Tuesday they thanked those involved in the search operation and said they are praying for the families of the others on board the plane, which went missing on Saturday en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
“The enrichment and strength that Rod and Mary have given us, helps us to get through each moment during this very difficult time,” the statement said.
“It is comforting to know that Rod and Mary are together, wherever they are.
“Our family will remain together to provide strength and support to each other as we maintain hope, but brace each other for the worst.”
On Monday Queensland Police held a pray vigil for the Burrows.
Ms Burrows was employed for 16 years as a civilian employee for the service.
