Coach Paul Okon has named three young Western Sydney Wanderers in a 23-man squad for a training camp ahead of October’s Under-19 World Cup.

Three Western Sydney youngsters have been added to the Young Socceroos’ squad for a training camp in Sydney next week.

Alusine Fofanah, Lawrence Hanna and goalkeeper Thomas Manos were among 23 players named by coach Paul Okon for the camp, beginning on Monday, as part of preparations for October’s AFC under-19 championship in Myanmar.

The tournament also doubles as qualification for the 2015 Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

The Wanderers’ trio missed out on a call-up for Okon’s last camp in December, but have been brought in at the expense of Sydney FC’s Hagi Gligor, Aaron Calver and ‘keeper Tristan Prendergast, among others.

“Although many of the players were at the December training camp, we have also brought in some new players to have a look at,” Okon said.

“At the moment, our goal is to identify as many players as possible that could fit into the squad as well as working on the structure and style of play that we want to take into the tournament.

“With the National Youth League wrapping up in a few weeks, these camps will become even more important in the coming months.”

The Young Socceroos will play a training match against the Marconi Stallions next Wednesday.
