Police have charged a 14-year-old boy over the alleged assault of a fellow student at a Queensland school.

A 14-year-old boy was found with a knife after assaulting a fellow student on the grounds of a Queensland school, police say.

Police say the teen ran at and tackled a 12-year-old boy at a Rockhampton school just before classes started on Wednesday morning.

It is alleged the teen had a knife on him but didn’t use it to hurt the other boy. The victim wasn’t treated in hospital.

The 14-year-old has been charged with assault and possessing a knife in a public place. He will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Earlier this week, three girls, aged 13 to 15, were charged over the alleged bashing of a 14-year-old girl in a tunnel near a Rockhampton school.

A video showing the girl being repeatedly punched was posted online on Tuesday.

A film of another fight, which shows two teenage boys fighting in a changeroom somewhere in Rockhampton, emerged on Thursday.

A police spokeswoman told AAP charges laid against the 14-year-old boy on Friday didn’t relate to this footage.
