A motorcyclist will face court later this month, charged with crashing his bike and leaving his passenger to die on a central Queensland roadside.

A motorcyclist has been charged over the death of a young man whose body was found beside a central Queensland road.

Kurtis West, 18, was found on the Jambin-Dakenba Road, near Biloela, by another motorist early on Friday morning.

Police believe he died while riding as a passenger on a motorbike driven by a 28-year-old man.

The man has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm.

It’s alleged he left the scene without getting help for Mr West.

He’ll face the Biloela Magistrates Court on January 29.

Mr West had been involved in a scuffle at a local pub in the hours leading up to his death but police later said a post-mortem examination revealed violence was not a factor in his death.

Earlier this week, His father Kelvin West said he wanted answers about his son’s death.

“He was so young to be taken,” he said.
