Wet weather means arrests are down from last year at schoolies celebrations on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Many schoolies on Queensland’s Gold Coast stayed in to party during the wet weekend, giving police a break.
Nine school-leavers – eight male and one female – were arrested overnight for alcohol and public-nuisance offences.
The figures are down from the arrest figures for the same Saturday night last year, when 20 schoolies were arrested.
Nine schoolies were nabbed for drinking in a public place compared with 47 last year.
Three were also arrested for minor drug offences.
There were 51 non-schoolies arrested on 57 charges, mainly for public nuisance.
