Brisbane has welcomed its very first high-rise sky bar, offering night owls stunning views of the city while they drink and socialise.
Located on the 30th floor of Four Points by Sheraton in Brisbane’s CBD, Sazerac Bar opened its doors last Wednesday boasting million dollar views of the Story Bridge, Botanic Gardens and city skyline.
The bar — named after the holy grail of historical cocktails — takes its name from the oldest known American cocktail Sazerac, which was invented by the owner of a New Orleans apothecary Amedia Peychaud in 1838 and created using his own Peychaud’s bitters recipe and French brandy.
In 1873, the recipe for the Sazerac Cocktail was altered to replace the French brandy with American Rye whiskey and a dash of absinthe — which is how we know it today.
Paying homage to the drink that started it all, Sazerac bar applauds the forefathers of mixology with an extensive cocktail menu.
From the Signature Sazarac with a mix of cognac, rye whiskey and absinthe, and the classic Peach Mint Julip with peach bitters and rye whiskey, to the creamy Buttercup with Licor 43 Liqueur, fresh passionfruit and whipped cream – whether it’s sweet, sour, salty or fruity the bar has a tipple to suit every palate.
They also stock a carefully curated selection of high calibre whiskeys from around the world and an extensive list of Australian and New Zealand wines, as well as a considered range of beers.
So you’ll be sure to find the perfect drink to linger over, while you enjoy good company and exquisite views!
The art of pairing drinks with food is almost as ancient as the craft of drinking itself, and no cocktail hour or happy hour is complete without a little sustenance to keep the evening going!
Developed by executive chef Ambrose Andrews, Sazerac’s food menu features a medley of exotic share dishes designed to tantalize the tastebuds. And if you’re after something a little heartier, they have that too!
So climb up to the 30th floor (ok, maybe take the elevator) of Four Points by Sheraton and check out Sazerac for yourself! Take in the spectacular views, maybe a cocktail or two and enjoy a great night out!
Sazerac is located at Level 30, 99 Mary Street, Brisbane. For more information call 3164 4000 or visit Sazerac Bar Brisbane’s facebook page.
