Brisbane gets a little bit closer to Tokyo every day.
Japanese retail giant UNIQLO recently opened to much fanfare in the Queen Street Mall, but Brisbane has been turning Japanese (and loving it) for a while now.
Raindrop cake, a dessert craze based on a Japanese tradition, has just come to South Bank.
We’ve got not one, but two, cat cafés. We’ve got ramen restaurants opening at a rapid rate, and before that, we fell hard for gyoza. KFC have brought black burgers down under, Daiso discount stores are everywhere, and so are their imitators.
That’s barely even scratching the surface, though, of all the wacky and wonderful Japanese trends we’d like to see find their way to Brisbane.
