Brisbane now has a world-class golf entertainment facility to call its own after the opening of Golf Central BNE this week at the Brisbane Airport.

The $6 million project adds another outstanding facility to the Skygate precinct at Brisbane Airport alongside the DFO, the Novotel Brisbane Airport and Queensland’s first 24 hour Woolworths.

The site has plenty for the whole family and with it so close to the airport, why not make it a pit stop before leaving on a stressful journey or as a way to kill time if a flight is delayed?

The 17 hectare site in the heart of the thriving Brisbane Airport has been transformed into a golf entertainment precinct that includes an 18 hole mini golf course, 50 bay driving range, TaylorMade Performance Lab (only the second in the Southern Hemisphere), golf excellence centre, short game zone and a fully licensed bar and cafe.

Golf Central Director James Cooper says the vision was to create a resort like environment in the heart of Brisbane minutes from the CBD and he thinks the results speak for themselves.

The entire family will be sure to enjoy the18 hole mini golf course, which is themed with a different country for every hole. The fully floodlit course is beautifully landscaped with native plants, waterways, an amazing Bose sound

“We had the course designed by Castle Golf who are industry leading mini golf designers out of Scottsdale in the United States of America. We wanted to ensure that we created a world-class course that would entertain children, families and corporates alike” Cooper says.

He says mini golf packages have been popular with Christmas parties in the last week, with plenty more scheduled between now and Christmas.

The golf driving range also opened this week, and has an amazing facility for juniors, beginners, and ladies through to elite players.

Cooper says as a PGA professional who has travelled the world with a set of golf clubs, it was very evident that Brisbane has previously pulled up short in its offering of high quality driving range facilities.

“Many cities have four or five great facilities and we are well short of that number,” he says.

The 300 metre driving range is presented in a fashion that is more in tune with some of the best resort golf courses in the country. The rolling undulations, eleven targets and the spilt fairway after the 150 metre mark are not only unique, they are extremely inviting and very realistic.

The 29 undercover bays are complimented by 20 grass tees, two putting and chipping greens and a coaching centre.

Cooper says the entire facility is fully flood lit and will be an amazing place to spend the summer afternoons and evenings.

Golf Central BNE will operate from 7am until late seven days a week, and will be open the entire December to January holiday period, closing only on Christmas Day.
