The EB Expo will come home to the Gold Coast this year.

Video games retailer EB Games launched the EB Expo on the Gold Coast in 2011.

It moved to Sydney in 2012, and it’s been there ever since, becoming Australia’s premier gaming event in the process.

The Expo has consistently given Australian gamers their first chance to play blockbuster games before they’re released here, and has attracted industry luminaries like Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon, EA Sports boss Peter Moore, Xbox chief Phil Spencer, and the voice of Mario himself, Charles Martinet.

“The EB Expo burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion on the Gold Coast, and we’re so excited to bring this now world-famous event back to Queensland,” says EB Games events director Debra McGrath.

“Last time we were on the Gold Coast sessions completely sold out. This year we’re expecting the whole show to sell out in record time.

“The biggest change people will notice is how the show has evolved and is now an event that truly has something for everyone. There will be no better family event this October.”

The EB Expo will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 7 October and Sunday 8 October. The line-up of guests and playable games has yet to be announced; tickets are expected to go on sale in March at
