Grammy-award winning superstars Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are bringing their show-stopping This Unruly Mess I’ve Made world tour to Brisbane in August.
The duo behind massive hits Downtown, Thrift Shop, Can’t Hold Us and Same Love will kick off their national tour at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Their sophomore LP, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, was released last month, more than three years after their Grammy-winning debut album, The Heist.
The album arrives after the crossover success of their comeback single, Downtown, which featured pioneering hip hop MCs Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz and Melle Mel. The album also features guest spots from Ed Sheeran and Leon Bridges.
In an open letter on his website, Macklemore said he had to disappear into the wilderness of America’s Pacific North-West to record the album.
“I had to figure out how to use my voice again,” he said.
“So, we went ghost. The Irish Goodbye, into the woods, in the dead of winter. We bought a 1985 Suburban, loaded up some equipment and left town.”
They’ll be joined on their Australian tour by Sydney favourites Thundamentals, whose jaw-dropping live show will set the bar awfully high for the US duo.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will play the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 2 August with support from Thundamentals. For tickets, visit livenation.com.au.
