Returning to the golden shores of Currumbin this year, the SWELL Sculpture Festival celebrates the smooth blend of art and beach culture.
Kicking off on 11 September, this ten day event is Queensland’s largest free outdoor exhibition. It will transform the 1km stretch of Currumbin Beach into a lively outdoor gallery for the whole family to explore.
The exhibition is now in its thirteenth year, and has become an iconic event in the Gold Coast calendar for locals and tourists.
The talent showcased features work from local, national, and international artists—making the exhibition more diverse and vibrant than ever before.
But it isn’t just an outdoor gallery. The SWELL Sculpture Festival also has free live entertainment, workshops, kid-friendly activities, performance art, artist talks, yoga classes and more.
The artworks can be seen another way from day to night through shifts of lighting, making it seem like a completely different exhibition once the sun sets—making the SWELL Sculpture Festival, well, swell.
Artists work across all mediums, and vie for awards of more than $25,000, including the coveted $15,000 SWELL Sculpture Award, sponsored by the City of Gold Coast and the highly popular $3,000 Currumbin Beach Vikings SLSC People’s Choice Award.
With free entry to the exhibition itself all day every day from 11-20 September, it’s sure to be an exciting and unique experience for the whole family.
