Dance the night away this long weekend at Eagle Lane in the heart of Brisbane.
Residents and CBD workers are invited to kick back and wind down for the Easter long weekend as Eagle Lane transforms into a pedestrian night spot with live music, drinks and delicious food this Thursday 2 April from 5pm to midnight.
Neighbourhood Planning and Development Assessment Chairman, Cr Amanda Cooper said Thursday’s event was one of seven planned for Eagle Lane, to innovative new destination activities in CBD laneways for people to catch up and unwind after work.
“Brisbane’s CBD has a fantastic network of laneways each with unique public art spaces, pedestrian routes, history trails and unique dining and entertainment spaces for visitors to explore,” Cr Cooper said.
“This inaugural Eagle Lane event will feature live music some of Brisbane’s best DJs in a licenced outdoor area featuring relaxed seating.
“We want visitors to start their long weekend in style some of Brisbane’s best food trucks such as King of The Wings and Vira Lata, as well as special food and drink deals from local businesses to tide them through late in to the night.”
During this event, Eagle Lane will be closed to traffic at the Queen Street entry between 4pm Thursday 2 April and 1am Friday 3 April.
Cr Cooper said Brisbane City Council was partnering with Brisbane Marketing and local businesses including Brooklyn Standard to deliver the laneway events over the coming weeks.
“Brisbane’s laneways are some of the city’s most intriguing and interesting entertainment and dining destinations and these events are about introducing the community to what is on offer,” she said. “These projects have expanded the diversity of artists, artworks and experiences within the city, attracting new visitors to some of Brisbane’s most exciting hidden spaces.”
“The Eagle Lane activation is a great opportunity to try something new and I encourage people to stay a little longer in the CBD and make the most of one of our city’s most vibrant laneways.”
Seven Eagle Lane events are planned to be held between Thursday 2 April and Friday 26 June 2015.
