Now in its eighth year, the Brisbane Shakespeare Festival is Australia’s largest event of its kind. Held over three weekends and three locations, it is not to be missed!
2014 marks the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth and what better way to celebrate than this festival dedicated to him.
The highlight of this year’s festival will be the free outdoor performances of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, Richard III. Bring a rug and enjoy!
There will be numerous activities for all ages each weekend, including kids Shakespeare story time, a poetic unravelling of Richard III, a fencing display and brass band performances.
Many of the activities are free and there will a selection of food and drink available for purchase each weekend.
The festival will be held over three weekends and in three locations:
- September 20-21: Oxford Street in Bulimba
- September 27-28: Einbunpin Lagoon Park and surrounds in Sandgate
- October 5: The Gasworks at Newstead
