One of the most anticipated racing events, the annual Girls’ Day Out at Eagle Farm Racecourse, returns to the track to raise money for HeartKids Queensland.

2014 marks the ninth year for Girls’ Day Out – where Brisbane ladies flock to the races in their best frocks. It is one of the biggest days in racing, leading up to the Brisbane Racing Carnival.

This year, Girls’ Day Out will raise money for HeartKids Queensland, which assists families living with childhood heart disease.

Brisbane Racing Club chairman, Neville Bell, says although the name suggests otherwise, the event is a great day for women and men alike.

“It’s a great day for the ladies to don their best frock and kick up their heels with an experience that’s far from your typical race day,” says Bell.

“There’ll be a Stefan pamper lounge for any hair and make-up touch ups during the day, live music and some very handsome male attendants on hand to fix any fashion emergencies.”

But Bell says the men shouldn’t be deterred, with The Man Cave providing entertainment for hours.

“There’ll be everything in this haven, from a full range of premium beer and a dedicated tote area, to a pinball machine and Nintendo Wiis.”

This year’s event also coincides with HeartKids Queensland’s 30th anniversary, as well as Childhood Heart Disease Awareness Month.

HeartKids Queensland Fundraising Manager, Erin Lawson, says Girls’ Day Out is hoping to raise $10,000 during the day.

“The money raised will help to continue our in-hospital and out of hospital support programs, the establishment of additional support programs for regional families and will support all heart kids and their families throughout their lifelong journey,” says Lawson.

General admission to the event is $20, but for a $50 VIP Party ticket you will receive live DJ entertainment, two drinks and lunch.

“You’ll also be able to get up close to our handsome collar and cuff male waiters in the Hunk Bar, buy a personally signed copy of this year’s Firefighters Calendar in The Inferno or sip on a glass of bubbly in the Yellowglen Sparkling and Dessert Garden,” says Bell.
