Craft and Quilt Fair invites you to Shop, Learn, Make and Be Inspired.
This much-anticipated event offers a stunning range of exhibitions, displays, hands-on activities, guest artists, free demonstrations, workshops and more for you to get crafty!

Heralded as THE Home of Craft, the fair is a fixture in the diary of crafting enthusiasts and has everything under the one roof to be inspired and get creative.

This year, Craft & Quilt Fair welcomes world renowned artisan Akiko Ike, who brings the Chiku Chiku exhibition to South Bank. The onomatopoeic term chiku chiku refers to the sound of the needle passing through the thread and has been described as meditative and therapeutic, invoking a sense of calm and is said to even encourage dreaming. Visitors are urged to touch the works, feel the bumps and examine their intricate layering, as the display is not about perfection but instead about sewing where your heart takes the thread.

Craft & Quilt Fair welcomes guest fabric designer and painter, Saffron Craig, who will run classes for visitors to learn about the versatile art of screen printing and fabric painting. Inspired by nature, Saffron’s most recent works reflect the stunning landscape of Margaret River, Western Australia; a place where the famous desert wild flowers grow.

Craft & Quilt Fair also sees SAlt’s Inner Journeys – an introspective new instalment which showcases South Australian textile artists, the SAlt group. The work is the artists’ unique and highly personal responses to the five themes; creative, physical, emotional, spiritual and the journey of discovery!

The Queensland Quilters’ annual exhibition is a highlight at the fair, with hundreds of glorious quilts on display – made by Queensland Quilt Guild members – it’s a must see.

Workshops are a highlight of the event with more than 60 sessions happening each day. Seminar style talks, demonstrations and floor talks as well as hands-on ‘make and take’ classes provide visitors with the knowledge and skills to get started on a new creative project, and learn from the many experts on hand. Learn to sew, embroider, make textile art, knit, paint, print furnishing fabric, create and colour the latest paper crafts, make a funky phone case or sweet gifts for friends – all the tips, tricks and products you need are at the fair!

Shop till you Drop – Retailers at the show have an outstanding range of material to choose from and this event is the ideal place to stock up on hard to find products, learn new techniques from artists and designers, and be inspired to craft and create – all under one roof! Shopping at the fair is breathtaking and offers an irresistible selection of all the latest materials for craft.
