This year’s Refugee Week will feature Bring Them Here – sounds of change (BTHSC) where more than a dozen acts will unite at The Foundry to demand humane treatment of asylum seekers.
The organisers of BTHSC, Camille Furtado and Erin Kennedy, said holding the event less than a week before the federal election would encourage music lovers to vote for an inclusive and welcoming Australia.
“We’re excited to announce so many artists using their talent to be part of the welcome movement,” Ms Kennedy said.
“Performing artists include the likes of our own talented Patience Hodgson (the Grates), Robbie James (legendary Aussie rock band GANGgajang) and Ben Ely (Regurgitator). Many up and coming artists, which have also been on high-rotation on Triple J such as Zefereli and Clea, will feature too. The response has been overwhelming.
“BTHSC will be a call to action as well as a celebration of the diversity and enrichment refugees and asylum seekers bring to our Brisbane communities.”
All proceeds will be donated to local asylum seeker support organisations.
Come along to support a great cause.
