Experience an ancient Persian tale of forbidden love, rebellion and political revolution.
Vis and Ramin has survived over 2000 years as one of the most famous narratives of pre-Islamic Iran. Reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, this highly charged political love story features a tenacious proto-feminist central character. For their one-week season at Metro Arts, Baran have revitalised this famous classic with bilingual storytelling and sophisticated multi-media for a dynamic contemporary performance.
Staged at a time when Iranian immigration is a hotly-discussed topic, Vis and Ramin analyses misconceptions of Iran and Iranian women and interrogates the contemporary politics of the Middle Eastern country since the Islamic Revolution.
