Experience Brisbane’s relaxed Bayside vibe at this year’s Deagon Community Picnic Race Day. Returning for its third year, as a dual 10 race meet (7 Thoroughbred & 3 Harness races) Live entertainment will be playing trackside all day, roaming performances will entertain the crowd, and all the glamour of ‘The Emeri Sparkling Wine Fashions on the Field’ will return. There will be free children’s entertainment including a jumping castle and petting zoo, and punters can satisfy their hunger with an abundance of Street Food to choose from – including fresh seafood straight from the Bay, and ice cold beverages.
This year the ‘VIP Courtyard’ (Strictly 18+) is again expected to be popular with the crowds chasing the glamour; located infield trackside (providing great race views), and decked out with Jumbo screen featuring the day’s races. Bands and DJ’s will be playing all day long in the “Espresso Martini by Di Bella” chill out lounge, and VIP punters will be treated to tastings with Dan Woolley of Whiskey Hunter.
For family and friends who prefer a more organic experience and like to feel the turf between their toes, then they are welcome to bring along a picnic basket and blanket and enjoy a day on the lawn, soaking in all the atmosphere of the races that only a picnic meet can provide.
In keeping with ‘picnic race’ tradition there will also be Footraces for the ‘Fillies, Families and Fellas’ (open to anyone on the day who fancies getting on the turf itself, and is brave enough to give it a go).
Gates open at 10.00am, and the 2015 Deagon Community Race Day will be an official TAB Meet, and broadcast on Sky.
Since The Deagon Community Picnic Races were brought back in 2013, (for the first time in 72 years), the day has become a huge community event and a great day out.
They are all about having a fun and relaxing day, and appeal to all ages!
