This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally.

These Brisbane stores have put their hand up to be involved in Record Store Day: Egg Records, Rocking Horse, Kill the Music, Jet Black Cat Music, Tym Guitars, Record Exchange Brisbane, Rockaway Records and Brookside Music.

West End’s Jet Black Cat Music will be also be hosting live performances from Blank Realm, Mosman Alder and Jim Lawrie as well as selling limited edition vinyl that is being re-issued for Record Store Day 2015. Winn Lane’s A Love Supreme Records is bringing some of Brisbane’s best DJs to spin some killer tunes, including Gavin Boyd, Sampology, James Wright and Percy Miracles.
