This year celebrates the 150th birthday of Richard Strauss, a man who is sometimes called “the Ladies Man of Opera” because his music seems to capture them so perfectly. But there was only one woman who was his inspiration: his wife, Pauline de Ahna.

Infamous for her tempestuous and over boisterous nature, Strauss loved every bit of her. He even said it was her voice that he heard when he composed.

Join Leslie Martin-Nightingale (Soprano), Lucy Bignall (Violin) and Prue Gibbs (Piano) as they explore this fascinating couple’s relationship through Strauss’s Lieder, his Rosenkavalier Waltzes and the Violin Sonata.
