The Outback Pub is a true blue musical hit that is showing at Morningside‘s Studio Theatre and Cafe between 1 February and 29 March 2014 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The story follows the Wishard hotel in financial trouble, and the publican, Judy McGowan, desperately is trying to get business booming again. Jack McKenna, the town’s local cop, comes up with a sure fire idea to help the pub out of debt, however a local councillor is “dead set” on closing down the Shire’s only watering hole.
All seems lost until a retired thespian, Nathan Smythe, steps in to save the day. Nathan plans to use his old contacts in showbusiness to give the Wishard Hotel an overdue shot in the arm.
Will Jack be able to save the Wishard Hotel? Will Judy be able to get the council off her back? And above all, can the locals cope with Nathan and his wild ideas?
“It was simply brilliant! It brought tears to my eyes and I just could not stop laughing…. It was fast paced, hilariously funny and fantastically sung.”… Eric Scott, Absolute Theatre.
