The Ginger Flower and Food Festival is on from 17 to 19 January from 9am to 5pm at the Ginger Factory, Sunshine Coast.

This festival is a free event, with plenty of free parking.

The three day festival will feature special guests, entertainment, demonstrations, tours and of course the beautiful flowers.

From Thai-inspired cuisine by The Spirit House Cooking School’s chef, Kelly Lord to French country cooking for the whole family, presented by Laurent Vancam (Chef Laurent) who focuses on healthy, tasty food for kids; festival-goers will find this year’s line-up both entertaining and informative.

A special ‘Cook and the Chef’ style cook-off will run with the two-hatted Long Apron’s executive chef, Cameron Matthews going head-to-head with the goddess of gluten free goodness, Tania Hubbard of the Gluten Free Grain Free Co.  Both will use the same ingredients yet prepare completely different dishes to inspire budding gourmands.

Regular favourites, Aki Kitabatake of Ninderry Manor will demonstrate the simplicity of Japanese cuisine using seasonal ingredients with another Sunshine Coast gluten free and organic chef, Monica Topliss of Kunara Organic Café preparing some seriously creative dishes appealing to the fussiest of tastes.

Visitors will again be entertained by the bubbly former 4BC radio gardening host, columnist and owner of ecobotanics, Clair Levander, who will show visitors how to bring a vibrant, colourful garden to life: and Twig & Grace’s equally bubbly Dezley Hughes, demonstrating how to use your own garden plants to create breathtaking floral displays. There will also be a guest appearance by Dame Edna ( Average)!
