Chuck Palahniuk, the bestselling author of Fight Club, Choke and Lullaby, is about to release an adult colouring book like no other.
There’s been plenty of ink spilled about the therapeutic value — or lack thereof — of adult colouring books. But this one might have some artistic value, too.
Bait: Off-Colour Stories for You to Colour will contain eight short stories, illustrated in detailed black and white by artists Lee Bermejo, Kirbi Fagan, Duncan Fegredo, Alise Gluskova, Joelle Jones, Steve Morris, Tony Puryear and Marc Scheff.
Palahniuk is known for his provocative storytelling, and this adult colouring book will be no exception, with stories about an animal psychic who coaxes a statement from a fish that witnessed a political assassination; increasingly terrible birthday gifts that place a girl at the centre of an extinction-level event; and a Hollywood star taking on a viral (and scatological) internet campaign.
“Maybe between your colours, the artists’ designs, and my stories we can create something that endures. Something worth keeping. Let’s create a well-bound book that can sit on any shelf and be available for a new generation to discover and enjoy.”
Chuck Palahniuk’s Bait: Off-Colour Stories for You to Colour will be released by Dark Horse Comics on October 26, and will be available in comic book stores and bookstores.
