Days before her mastectomy, 42-year-old Lisa Royle from the UK posted a photo on Facebook of her breast, revealing the tiny dimple that lead to her breast cancer diagnosis.

Her intentions were to tell the women of the world that the signs of breast cancer can easily be overlooked. She was certainly unaware that the small dimples (shown in the picture below) on her breast were to turn into something major.

With the photo, she posted: “Ok so I never thought I would post a boob picture on Facebook but I thought I would before it gets chopped off next week. So here it is …. this is all I found on my boob. Very subtle dimples underneath that could easily be missed when we’re all rushing round getting ready in a morning. Please take time to look at your boobs. It could save your life.”

The photo has since been shared more the 60,000 times and flooded with positive comments.

Ms Royle and her family want to continue to educate women about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. She has now had her mastectomy and is doing well.

According to Cancer Council Australia, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Australia and there are some signs you should look out for.
