You don’t have to run away to join the circus, you can learn your craft right here in Brisbane!

From the big top to the animals and performers, the circus brings out the child in all of us. Now you can relive those memories and become a performer!

These schools have been popping up across Brisbane and an Albion circus school is now teaching classes for children and adults who are looking for something challenging.

Claire Odgen of Claire’s Circus School had been an aerial tissu performer since 2009 and now teaches classes at St Margaret’s School in Albion.

She says learning these skills is a great opportunity for people to try something really fun and challenging.

“A lot of my students come to circus after looking for a way to keep fit that is more fun than lifting weights.

Claire says the classes offered at her Circus School are great for building strength, coordination, flexibility and cardio fitness.

To join the Circus, you don’t need to start early, as Claire explains she is passionate about helping adults challenge their fears, as she started learning circus skills as an adult herself.

“It’s certainly not easy to put yourself out of your comfort zone and I really admire all the adults who give circus a go.

“I love seeing the excitement in the faces of students who achieve something they never thought they could do,” she says.

Why not learn juggling, tumbling, plate spinning, acrobalance or aerial tissu and get fit at the same time at circus school? You can even have the opportunity to perform in the end of year show.

Would you give circus school a try or are you more of a circus spectator?
