You don’t need to be a model to have chic catwalk style. This month’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival gives you the chance to own looks right off the runway.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the annual event will showcase garments from local, national and emerging fashion designers, just as their Spring/Summer collections hit the stores.

MBFF Founder and Director Lindsay Bennett said creating a fashion event for everyone is what’s motivated him over the past decade.

“The festival is all about accessibility. The runway shows are ticketed for the general public, giving fashion lovers the chance to experience the sort of fantastic show that is normally reserved for the industry. They’re also timed to coincide with the launch of Spring/Summer collections in stores, so show-goers can go out the next day and buy their favourite pieces, or shop instantly online.”

He’s even made room in the front row with extra seating, so attendees could be rubbing shoulders with celebrities, bloggers and the like.

“This year the festival has moved to our largest venue yet. This allows us to have more front-row seats than ever before, and therefore the opportunity to open these seats up for purchase for the first time. Normally these seats are reserved for media, partners and special guests. We are so excited to offer show-goers the opportunity to sit front row, VIP-style, for the first time – it’s going to be an amazing experience for them.”

From local designers like Maiocchi, Bora and Paul Hunt, to national names such as Aje, Ginger & Smart and Jayson Brunsdon, Bennett says the Spring/Summer collections will be a seasonal smorgasbord.

“Spring/Summer is the season when fashion seems to come to life, and we always love seeing the bold colours and unique prints that herald the new season. We are proud to showcase a range of designers with very different aesthetics. From couture and bridal gowns, to the eclectic ranges from next gen designers, there is going to be a lot on show.”
