It’s time to try these DIY beauty tips and tricks that won’t break the bank.

Let’s go bananas

If you’re looking for a natural way to keep your skin glowing, why not test drive reality TV star turned lifestyle guru Lauren Conrad’s bananas and cream face mask?
The rich nutritional content in bananas soothes irritated and sensitive skin while antioxidant filled honey has the ability to help your skin absorb and retain moisture.

For this DIY beauty treatment you’ll need ¼ cup heavy whipping cream, one banana and ¼ cup honey

Blend the banana and honey in a food processor then slowly stir in the heavy whipping cream. Paint on your face, and then allow it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Finish of by rinsing off the mask with lukewarm water.

Beautiful bright right eyes

Treat the dark circles under your eyes with a touch of green tea. Boil some water and pour it into a mug over your tea bags, then allow it to steep for about a minute. Once your tea has steeped, remove the bags and squeeze out any extra water. The bags should be slightly damp and cool when you’re ready to use them.

Place one tea bag over each eye and leave them there for about 10 minutes. The tannins and caffeine will get to work and minutes later you’ll look and feel refreshed.

Polish be gone

If you’re in the mood for a DIY manicure, but there’s no nail polish remover on hand, all is not lost. There are plenty of everyday substances lying around the house that function perfectly well as substitutes.

If you’ve got some alcohol on hand, did a cotton wool piece in and gently rub it across your nails. It will remove colour and act as a disinfectant. Vinegar and lemon juice will also do the trick, while soaking your fingers in a bowl of hot water will also see the polish fall away.

Hair raising

To give yourself some gorgeous subtle highlights, simply squeeze out an entire lemon into a dish, dip a clean toothbrush into the juice, and gently comb it through your hair. Then, go sit in the sun for about 45 minutes to an hour (don’t forget to wear sunscreen!). Do this once every two weeks or so and the lemon juice will naturally lighten your hair in the sun.

If you’re a raven haired beauty, why not concoct your own dry shampoo? Mix together two tablespoons of cocoa powder, two tablespoons of corn starch and a dash of cinnamon. Apply at your roots and shake through with your fingers for a refreshed head of hair.
