Red lip: A classic choice for Christmas, a bright red pout is a fun and easy way to refresh your makeup for night. Opt for matte textures to be really on-trend.
Shine bright: What’s a Christmas party without a little glitter? Use a highlighting cream or blush with shimmer like Issada’s Baked Mineral Shadow (which also works as an eye shadow) to give your cheeks a soft gleam, or use a silver eyeliner in the inner corner of eyes for a tinsel-like effect. If you have time, a glittery mani will give your nails festive charm.
O holy hair
The trick with hair is to change it from your normal, day-to-day routine. Usually wear it down and straight? Try a textured up-do. A fan of the top-knot in the office? Let your hair down for the party and pump up the volume.
Celebrity stylist Dario Cotroneo says that your daytime look can be prep for a night-time style.
“Blow-dry and straighten hair in the morning then secure into a ponytail at the base of the neck before twisting hair tightly and then pinning into a low bun,” he says. “When you’re ready to head out, remove hair from the bun – during the course of the day your hair will have developed some natural wave from the bun style. Run your fingers through for added volume, spritz with a little hairspray and you’re good to go.”
Party hair must-haves
Hairspray – Apply in a well-ventilated area to avoid choking co-workers, or use a spray instead of aerosol.
Shine spray/moisturising serum – Revitalise dry hair with a shine spray like the lightweight Mango Oil Spray from Klorane.
