Food, fashion and fun are waiting for you under cover of darkness at GOMA.

It’s time to gather up your most fashionable friends and hit up GOMA on Friday nights to enjoy live music and DJs, hear from designers and fashion identities and sample Japanese-inspired food during the Up Late portion of ‘Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion’.

This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to view over 100 unique garments drawn from the unparalleled collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute, ranging from the classic and elegant to the outrageous. Headlining acts include international, national and local musicians with supporting DJs Ben Ely (Regurgitator), Seja & Mel Tickle (Little Scout), El Norto and Tincture.

You can also hear from local, ground breaking designers and fashion identities at the Fashion in Action talks, held nightly at 6.30pm.

Delight your senses with Japanese-inspired food including wagyu beef burgers, onigiri rice balls, savoury pancakes (ekonomiyaki) and sweet cherry treats.

Both the Future Beauty pop-up shop and Comme des Garçons Pocket store will open, offering a striking range of fashion-themed publications and merchandise.

Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion’ explores the tremendous innovation of Japanese fashion designers from the early 1980s to the present.
