Parisian style is one of the most desirable to emulate by women the world over, and one Brisbane-based former Parisian is set to show local women just how.
French Rendez-Vous boutique owner and fashion stylist Virginie Delamare says anyone can learn to dress like a Parisian.
To celebrate her James St boutique’s first birthday, the French stylist and retailer will share her styling secrets through a series of free workshops to be held at her store.
French-born Virginie’s love of fashion was ignited by her talented seamstress mother and an aunt who worked alongside famous French stylist Philip Model for more than two decades. Well-equipped to pass on her fashion expertise, Virginie is keen to share her dos-and-don’ts on how to create that casual, never-overdressed, never under-dressed Parisian attitude of looking effortlessly chic no matter what.
Virginie opened the French Rendez-Vous boutique in James Street last May and said during the past 12 months clients have often asked her how to dress Parisian without looking contrived.
“You don’t have to be born in France to have Parisian style, but there are some golden rules to achieving that Parisian DNA which I will enjoy revealing at the workshops,” says Virginie.
“Parisians love finding new labels, unique designs and choosing pieces that never go out of style. FRV represents emerging Paris-based designers whose labels aren’t available elsewhere in Australia. Their designs are chic yet have an edge to them.
“I personally view their collections in Paris and order direct from them – that’s one of the secrets of achieving that look á la Parisienne. When it comes to fashion, I also believe you don’t have to have lots of different clothes hanging in your wardrobe. Less is more…the trick is to understand how to bring these pieces together to create the ‘chic’ factor.”
The workshops will also be attended by Simplicite Skin Care co-founder Robin Lyons, who will provide complimentary skin analysis and skin care advice. Virginie said it was the perfect collaboration.
“Beautiful clothes and beautiful skin go hand-in-hand. Achieving that sought-after ‘je ne sais quoi’ approach includes fresh looking skin, skin that glows,” she says.
