British model and fashion icon Kate Moss has once again collaborated with retailer Topshop in a collection to be launched in the Brisbane store on May 2 as part of a global rollout.

The collection has truly been inspired by Moss’s style and her own iconic fashion moments, reinterpreted for Topshop and its customer. Key trends begin with Balearic inspiration (a boho/tribal look taken from the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Majorca, Minorca and Formentera), with its handmade feel, featuring crochet lace dresses, kaftans, embroidered smock tops and silk blouses.

Moss’s love of pyjama dressing is expressed through printed silk satin trousers, blouses and a pyjama coat – floral-derived prints and an Oriental print feature here.

To highlight Moss’s penchant for sexy styles, a selection of cocktail dresses has been added, with hemlines either mid-thigh or floor grazing and opulent trims, sequins, fringing and beadwork featuring heavily.

The last of the Kate Moss inspired trends is termed Tailoring Noir, mixing tuxes and trouser suits in black and gold, a metallic lame dress and lame floral printed shirts perfect for smart evening wear.

Fabrics have been sourced from London’s Soho, Italy and India to create the collection, with stand-out pieces including a densely hand-beaded dress available solely through the UK Topshop.com site and costing £600 (more than $1000 AUD).

“My first collection (for Topshop) was seven years ago and I have grown up since then and things that I want to wear are different,” says Moss.

“It is a natural evolvement. I learnt a lot from my experience the first time around, so I didn’t come in blind this time – I knew the process. Phillip (Green, business partner and Topshop owner) has taught me a lot throughout doing these collections which is so valuable and I now have a more extensive knowledge across many areas of design, buying, fabrication and achieving different levels of quality.”

Topshop has 319 stores in the UK and 137 internationally across 40 countries. The Topshop brand is also stocked though US department store Nordstrom.

To celebrate the launch of the Topshop x Kate Moss collection, Topshop invites fashionistas to a fun night in-store on Friday, May 2 from 7-9pm.

Guests will enjoy complimentary champagne and canapes whilst they shop, with 15% off storewide (excluding the new Kate Moss collection). There will also be style workshops hosted by Vogue and the Topshop Personal Shoppers, free beauty treatments in-store, competitions, prizes and goodie bags.
