Jeep adds diesel Cherokee

Jeep’s impressive new Cherokee now comes with the option of a diesel engine, expanding its appeal for serious off-roaders.

The powertrain combination of 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine and nine-speed automatic transmission offers average fuel consumption of 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres, plus 350 Newtonmetres of torque for towing and off-roading.

The Limited Diesel completes the Cherokee line-up, which is already offered in Sport guise with a 2.4-litre petrol engine and the Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk a 3.2-litre V6.

The Diesel features dual-range transmission with electronic torque management.

The list price of $49,000 includes heated leather front seats, touchscreen navigation, reversing camera and Alpine nine-speaker surround sound system.

Special arrival

Just in time for the Bathurst 1000, Holden fans can buy their very own Holden Commodore SS V in a special Craig Lowndes edition celebrating the driver’s 20th anniversary in V8 Supercars.

As his mentor Peter Brock inspired the legendary Brock Commodores, now Lowndes has his name on a variant of the very last Commodore model to be built in Australia.

The Craig Lowndes SS V Special Edition Commodore based on Holden’s SS V Redline Commodore will feature unique specifications. Each car will be hand-finished and individually numbered and buyers will also be offered a package of exclusive benefits including a framed certificate of authenticity, a Red Bull Racing private function and tour hosted by Craig Lowndes and two tickets to a 2015 V8 Supercar race with a Red Bull Racing pit tour.

Prices, specifications and further details of the Lowndes Commodore will be released closer to its on-sale date next month, but keen fans would be well advised to visit their dealer now.
