Your pooch is more than a pet – they’re a part of the family, and love going to the beach and getting their paws wet just as much as you like a swim.
While dogs aren’t permitted within 200 metres of flagged areas on Gold Coast beaches and must also be kept on a leash outside the prohibited flag zones, there are several dog-friendly off-leach beach areas where you can go and let your dog frolic freely and let them get their paws wet.
Always remember to take plenty of water for your dog to drink and to pick up droppings- you can be fined $75 on the spot for neglecting to collect your dog’s defecation.
Located north of Surfers Paradise and Main Beach, the Spit is an artificial land mass created to separate the broadwater from the ocean and is home to Sea World and the Palazzo Versace resort. At the tip near the sand pumping jetty is a local favourite dog off-leash zone.
Tallebudgera is a well-known family destination, but just around the corner on the surf beach is somewhere the furrier family members can have fun.
Palm Beach is a great spot very popular with locals and is a great place to play with your pooch. Calmer waters are just around the corner for smaller children.
