Over 25,000 Queenslanders and their dogs will be taking a stroll this month to show their support and raise money for animals in need.

The RSPCA’s 21st Million Paws Walk is back on the 17th of May with 20 event locations around Queensland to help our four legged friends.

Sadly thousands of animals suffer abuse and mistreatment everyday and the RSPCA rely almost solely on community support to keep running their shelters across the country.

Money raised through the event’s fundraising, merchandise sales and activities on the day will go towards helping to provide essential care, veterinary treatment, food and shelter for more than 15,000 dogs that RSPCA Queensland cares for each year.

The dogs brought to RSPCA shelters aren’t as fortunate as your much loved family pet and they often require much needed veterinary care and vaccinations before they can have any change of finding a new home.

But the end results of this walk’s fundraising is priceless. Just ask Lucy, who was found beaten and left for dead in bushland before RSPCA saved and helped rehabilitate her.

Some time on, Lucy is now fully recovered and in a loving home.

By joining the walk this year or donating, you can help save dozens of poor pooches just like Lucy, who thoroughly deserve a second chance at life.

The cost for providing the proper care these animals need is in the millions.

This year the RSPCA is hoping to reach their target of $550,000 and are currently about half-way to their fundraising goal.

Help the RSPCA realise their goal and make an life long influence on an animal’s life.

This year the RSPCA Queensland is encouraging Million Paws Walk participants to try and raise $500 each.

“Our annual operating costs are just under $39 million in Queensland and we receive less than one percent of that figure in Government funding. So every cent raised helps,” said RSPCA Qld spokesperson Michael Beatty.
