Festitalia will celebrate the food, wine, music, art and colour of Italy to Brisbane for a day.

Hosted by the Italian Consulate in Brisbane and the Italian Embassy in Canberra, Festitalia will feature plenty of food stalls paying tribute to the famous flavours of Italy, with authentic espresso, pizza, calamarito cannoli, gnocchi, Nutella doughnuts, granita, Italian sausages and more.

My Kitchen Rules stars Luciano and Martino will headline the star-studded culinary line-up, alongside Australia’s Got Talent star Youssef Ben-Touati, who’ll be demonstrating his spectacular Pizza Acrobatics. There’ll also be a series of food and wine masterclasses on offer throughout the day.

For the Italian culture enthusiasts, the world famous Sbandieratori Sansepolcro Flagthrowers — from the renaissance town of the same name in the heart of central Italy — will bring their centuries-old tradition of flagthrowing to Brisbane for the first time.

Traditional Venetian mask-making techniques will be demonstrated by Michael Taylor, a line-up of iconic Italian cars will be on display, and a photographic exhibition, L’Ultimo Saluto, will document young Italians boarding ships on a passage of hope and courage.

Former Australian Idol contestant Cosima De Vito headlines the entertainment line-up. She’ll be joined on stage by actor and musician Diletta Luna, Tarantella dancers, and the Sydney-based Xpresso musicians.

There’ll also be rides and fun activities for the bambini in the family.

Festitalia will be held at Spencer Park in Newmarket on Sunday 9 October from 11am to 5pm; for more information and tickets, visit festitalia.com.au.
