It’s hard to go past this vegetarian haven when looking for Brisbane’s best plant-based breakfast. A wide range of options includes smashed avocado served with feta, chilli, parsley, beetroot hummus, grilled pita bread and a soft fried egg. A very filling breakfast burrito is also on offer, packed full of spinach, ricotta, poached eggs, avocado, chilli aioli and a corn and coriander salsa. If going vegetarian isn’t enough for your new season health-kick, Pineapple Express Café adds in a healthy dose of superfoods on its menu. The protein pancakes come with strawberries, banana, Manuka honey, chia seeds, mint, coconut yoghurt and bee pollen to keep you buzzing all day. For a savoury option, the green breakfast bowl is a nutritious combination of kale, broccolini, avocado, sunflower seeds, chilli, tomatoes, pomegranate and an organic poached egg. Famished on Frasers
Ashgrove locals have it good with Famished on Frasers, which serves up some of the most creative breakfasts in Brisbane. Vege-lovers will delight in the creamy coconut black rice oat porridge with rhubarb, vanilla poached pears, yoghurt and an almond chia seed brittle. Lady Marmalade Café
The all-day menu at this Southside café adds a twist to regular menu classics. The classic baked free range eggs with house beans and warm toast soldiers is a tasty grown-up take on the soft-boiled eggs of our youth.
