Today’s the day for gin lovers around the city to rejoice: raise your glass at Brisbane’s best venues.
As voted by Brisbane locals on Yelp, here are the best places to celebrate World Gin Day.
Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall:
This old-school saloon, occupying Petrie Terrace’s Baroona Labor Hall, has become one of Brisbane’s most celebrated pubs. Its freshly squeezed apple juice is a treat with any gin drink.
“Replacing the Velvet Cigar Lefty’s has got a great thing going. Good drinks, good food, great music and a healthy vibe. ” – Damien W.
West End’s boutique beer bar Bosc also has a knack for serving quality wines and innovative gin cocktails.
“Ron Burgundy might be all about the “Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch, Scotch” but my leather bound books and I are more about the “Gin, Ginny, Gin, Gin” and thankfully Bosc. is a gin-toting bar slinging my kind of drink.” – Lani P.
West End’s Sling Lounge, best known for its cocktail concoctions, has also recently introduced a new tapas menu to seduce its patrons.
“Possibly my favourite place to grab a cocktail in West End. I can never pick out of the 60 odd pages of cocktails, but lucky for us the staff there really know what’s up… Gin? Vodka? Bring me whatever you like my darlings, I trust you completely.” – Rebecca B.
The Mill on Constance:
A drink at The Mill on Constance usually means enjoying a quirky craft beer or Australian-exclusive spirit to live acoustic music.
“Good happy hour special, great atmos, and the fit-out is awesome! Good crowd too and the bar staff were really friendly with amazing accents. Best of all, they serve my new favourite Australian West Winds Gin.” – Adrianna W.
Further cementing its all-local ethos, the John Mills Himself wine list options are exclusively from Queensland, while all of the spirits and Crows Nest mixers are from Australian manufacturers.
“Cute little bar tucked down an alleyway… I recently had the bees knees, which is a honeycomb cocktail (served with a real piece of honeycomb) and it was awesome!” – Cat W.
Tucked within a back street of Fortitude Valley, Public serve Australian spirits, beers and wine at pub prices.
“The restaurant is incredibly cool and you may be fooled into thinking you are in New York for the evening. Our 51 martini and Space Gin Smash cocktails definitely added to this effect.” – Corrie Z.
