About Wavell Heights

Get directions

Wavell Heights is 10km north of central Brisbane. Part of Wavell Heights adjoining Sandgate Road is less than one kilometre from the Nundah railway station and was once known as West Nundah. However, letter deliveries apparently became confused and, in 1941, the local progress association agitated for a new name. In a choice between Inala and Wavell Heights, the latter was chosen in the wartime environment to honour Field Marshall Lord Wavell, leader of the Allied Forces.
