We asked you where the next Costco should open in Queensland, and the results were decisive.
33 per cent of you voted that the wholesale retailer’s next warehouse should open in Wacol!
Logan came in second with 25 per cent, while Indooroopilly (10 per cent) and the Gold Coast (7 per cent) also attracted their fair share of votes.
Aspley, Birdsville, Browns Plains, Capalaba, Carindale, Chermside, Everton Park, Garden City, Jimboomba, Maryborough, Mitchelton, Morayfield, Morningside, Mt Gravatt, Newfarm, Redlands, Richlands, Salisbury, Springfield, Sunshine Coast, Tingalpa, Toowoomba, Townsville and Wynumm each attracted less than one per cent of the write-in vote.
Not all of you want Costco to set up shop in your suburb, though — 15 per cent of you voted that we don’t need another Costco.
Do you want Costco to open in your suburb? Or is one Costco more than enough already? Let us know in the comments below!

After Costco, what’s next? 10 more stores that need to come to Brisbane
No we don’t need another one. There are plenty of cheap options in Brisbane for FRESH and Healthy food supporting local growers and producers. I prefer farmers markets (they are so cheap!!) and staples I can get from anywhere. People should do more to support local business, be it big or small.
I get that times are tough though, so understand the attraction.
I guess I’m lucky I can afford the option for now.
Costco sources most of its meat and veg from Aussie farmers. You might want to check your facts.
I think we definitely need one on the south side of Brisbane and Wacol would be my choice for a good position. I also think we need one up the coast further near Rocky or Mackay as there is a lot of people and area in QLD compared to NSW & VIC.
Would like to see a Costco over Logan way please.
Wacol would be a good location. I personally would love to have one in Wacol, it’s basically a intersection between the logan motorway, centenary highway and cunningham highway/ipswich motorway. And not to far from the warrego.
why no put a Costco somewhere in north Queensland , Cairns , Townsville .there is lots of fresh produce to source up there
Yes please, Cairns preferably but I’d travel to Townsville if I had to
I would love to have a Costco out near us (Browns Plains) it would boost our economy dramatically and would also do wonders for the unemployment rate around here. With Springfield, Greenbank, Jimboomba and Beaudessert housing market taking off and these areas growing like wildfire it would be awesome to have them come here. I heard a rumour that the Logan City Council rejected Costco’s attempts to open in Beenleigh which really shocked me. I think the Logan City Council really should re-think this and try to find a place where they can build the second one. I love Costco but still do buy my milk from the local dairy (Scenic Rim 4Real milk) and I purchase my fresh fruit and veg from the Rocklea markets but you can’t surpass the savings on petrol, and bulk purchasing. I remember how everyone was so against Aldi coming to Brisbane, this is no different. Lets bring Costco to Logan.
Wacol or close to Ipswich
Definately need a Costco on the Gold Coast, why should Brisbane get all the good shops, and would save a packet in petrol which I could then spent in store!!
Maryborough would be perfect wI’ll generate more jobs in the region it’s too far to travel so no use buying a membership but if it was here then I know a few people already who will sign up, 1 is enough for Brisbane bring to Fraser Coast/wide Bay…
I totally agree Kira, Marybourgh/Hervey Bay region would be perfect for Costco
Wacol, logan or gold coast
Definitely need one on the Southside Capalaba area 🙂
There is a huge amount of commercial type land along Wembley Road between Woodridge and Drewvale. Very close to the Logan motorway so it would service – Ipswich, Gold Coast. Logan and even Toowoomba at a push. Quick start building. It’s not far from IKEA so those from Tweed, Byron bay etc would also benefit
Virginia. Sandgate rd
I think we need one southside and Wacol is as good a place as any as it is central to all the main highways close to springfield which is going to be massive Wacol seems like a good choice
Far North Queensland please!!
North Queensland! Townsville maybe
Townsville maybe
I think that Logan would be a much better option, because of it’s location. It’s close to all the majors and as a result it can service residents from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich very easily. There is a reason why IKEA picked Logan for it’s first Queensland store (first at Springwood, then/now at Slacks Creek).
Toowoomba needs a costco!
I definitely agree another one in Logan. Just check the residents density, there are huge amount people in south side of the brisbane. I personally drive 50mins to northlakes. You can see the demand. And brisbane is expanding to springwood, Springfield lakes, train station is ready. Logon Costo is definitely attractive.
Place a Costco on distillery rd beenleigh. Spare building awaiting and going to waste.
Gold Coast
Mackay would be the perfect spot
Logan parkridge !!
Definitely need Costco in South near Logan or Garden City.
Like always North of Brisbane ..you don’t exist .sick of everyone down there getting everything you want .would be nice if us up here in Far North QLD with a great Turn over of Defence personnel and just hit 200.000 ppl would be an awesome place to bring Cosco here to Townsville …
Building one in Logan would be great, maybe at Beenleigh or at Logan Hyperdome or near IKEA. Anywhere with easy access to the M1 really.
Would capture the Gold Coast market, the Logan market, the southern Brisbane market as well as people comming up from the NSW north coast just to go there.
Rochedale gardens has more space.
Logan would be the place near a Swedish outlet so you have the best off both world’s
I would love to see a Costco central to the South East Queensland. I think there needs to be two, one to cover more north and one for the south.
Would love a Costco at Wacol – would service the Western Surburbs as well as Springfield, Ipswich – would be a great balance to North Lakes.
I think we need a couple more cheap options for shopping in Cairns. I think Brisbane has plenty already, but FNQ does not have enough. Thinking Costco should open a store in the Cairns city area.
The old army site at Wacol would be ideal for cosco. Central for lots of suburbs
Logan, near IKEA and M1
Gold Coast!!
A Costco at Springfield would be of great value. The current road system would ensure that people from Warwick, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Gatton, Esk and surrounding areas could reach the store with ease.
gold coast is the place to be . it is the largest growing place in south east qld . Commonwealth games , Cruise ship terminal & tourism . don’t miss the boat on this one if you do it in tow or three years you will miss out on the property boom . all the other proposed sites will not have this growth so two to three years will not matter
A Costco at Springfield would make the highway to Orion shopping centre more of a nightmare than it already is. As a refugee from Victoria, I am apalled at the way people drive around that area, and another major shop like Costco would make it much more dangerous. Wacol is a much better idea, at least Ipswich Highway can cope with more traffic.
Cairns/ Townsville and Mackay/Rockhampton would be great! Honestly people in FNQ need it! Would give the big companies a run for their money too especially considering we don’t even have an Aldi up this way.
Seriously Costco, share the love amongst ALL of Queensland… Because amazingly, there IS more to Queensland then just Brisbane and Gold Coast.
Having lived in New York and experienced Costco for quite a long time I was thrilled when they opened in Australia. I suggest The Gold Coast would be perfect and in particular Nerang. In the past Nerang was the main stop between Brisbane and the N.S.W. border and has lots of businesses located there. Both Bunnings and Masters. It is close to the hinterland and the coast. The hub of a huge area. A real winner!
I think we need one around Maryborough/Hervey Bay or even in Bundaberg. We have to travel a minimum of 4 hours to get to the North Lakes store and it just is too far.
Wacol is the place as is situated in the stragic central for the people of southeast. like Ipswich, Springfield Lake, Logan and the list goes on….. The old Army barrack at Wacol is the ideal place I suppose!!1
Wacol would be a perfect place. Bring some business to places that really need it. I wish Costco would come liven up the place.
wacol or Ipswich west would serve all the Southside of Brisbane and Toowoomba
Wacol would definitely be a benefit to a great number of areas what a shame that they didn’t get the spot at Richlands where the new Masters Hardware is now. Personally I think that with Bunnings locations at both Oxley and Rocklea the last thing we needed in this area was another hardware giant.
I have the perfect spot for a Costco warehouse it is at Harbour Town Shopping Centre Biggera Waters on the Gold Coast. There is a huge place for rent ,it used to be used by Bunnings Warehouse but has been empty for 12 month now . So Costco come and have a look as it is the perfect place.
We need one here in Ispwich best shopping a lot of people need to get there facts right I have shopped here and the USA great savings if you share …….
Yes in capalabawould be great. Too far to travel from caoalaba to north lakes everytime. Or just start putting smaller costcos everywhere. Like a new coles or woolworths i guess. Than everyone can be happy cause the have a costco in there suburb
I used to COSTCO so much. INDOOROOPILLY is the best place for COSTCO. Because of Indooroopilly shopping centre, several suburbs around, can be more spacious than in the city sides. It is perfect place in my view. I stay bit close from this place. Also, I can go to Wacol, that is also close. But I definitely think the Indooroopilly is the best place!!!!!!!!!
New estate just opened 10 mins north of Townsville other suburbs around and we have no shopping centre Coles or Woolworths out here so would be a great place for a new shop. It’s about time people realised that there are options north of Brisbane.
Gold Coast is perfect for a new Costco as it would be central for the South Brisbane to Northern NSW.
Please open a shop in Townsville somewhere. God knows we could do with it.
Open one up in Pimpama/Coomera area. It would be perfect for a lot of people. Plus it’s not that far out of Brisbane or the gold coast, the closest one to most of us is North Lakes which is an hour drive.
Gold Coast is where the next one should be built!!! Would be muchly appreciated!!
