Even though Australia has only garnered one medal so far (congratulations Torah Bright for winning silver in women’s halfpipe!), it seems we’re all very interested in the Winter Olympics, with 63 per cent saying they’re loving watching the games coverage.torah-bright-action

They’ve been a controversial Olympics, with displacement of residents, changes to freedom of speech, assembly and association laws, and anti-LGBTI laws and propaganda that put visiting internationals and athletes at risk. German president Joachim Guack and European Commissioner for Justifce, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Viviane Reding have both publicly boycotted the games in response to the alleged human rights violations, along with many environmental and human rights organisations worldwide.

10 per cent of our poll respondents said they were boycotting the Sochi Olympics, but a larger number said they were ignoring the games for a different reason – 27 per cent of you find the Winter Olympics boring. We¬†guess there is only so much curling you can take…
